Getting your councillors on your side

The county and district councils along the route continue to have an important role in representing the area's interests whilst the HS2 proposal is being challenged. Although there is still a long way to go, the Government might eventually set itself against all of the arguments and force the project through. In that case, the councils will have a pivotal role in fighting for full mitigation and compensation. Some councils such as Buckinghamshire, have taken a firm position against the project but are also getting well prepared for the inevitable struggles ahead if the route is approved.

SNAG sees itself having a key responsibility in ensuring that the Northamptonshire councils move quickly to be able to provide similar support to their communities. Regular meetings are now being held and a range of issues, such assessing the levels of property and environmental blight, are now being addressed.

We will keep you updated on events and the ways you can ensure the councils reflect your needs.
