Businesses surveyed on HS2 rail link plans

Businesses will be asked to give their opinions now that the consultation period has been launched.

Alan Durham, the Chamber’s director of policy, was invited to the launch at the ICC in Birmingham. He said: “There has been a great deal of media interest in HS2 and there are a range of opinions on the matter. Now that the consultation exercise has been launched, we feel the time is right to gauge the views of our members and will be surveying companies right across Coventry and Warwickshire.

“We’ve hosted two events at the Chamber on the subject and have gone out to members for their views but now is really the time that businesspeople can take an informed view.

“My advice to companies in our patch would be to take a look at the proposals and decide whether they feel there will be a benefit for them and also look at the impact it will have on the overall economy.

“We are looking at the proposals in conjunction with the changes to the West Coast Main Line because we feel both items have a bearing on one another.”

The Chamber will issue further details in due course.
